Oslo-listed DNO on Wednesday increased its 2019 spending projection by more than 60% to $680 million on the back of stable production in Iraqi Kurdistan and its acquisition of North Sea independent Faroe Petroleum.

DNO ramps up spending in North Sea production drive

Oslo-listed DNO on Wednesday increased its 2019 spending projection by more than 60% to $680 million on the back of stable production in Iraqi Kurdistan and its acquisition of North Sea independent Faroe Petroleum.

In a Q1 results statement, DNO said it had revised up its spending plans compared with a statement on February 7, when it was still completing the Faroe acquisition and had penciled in a 40% increase to $420 million.

It said it aimed to more than double its North Sea production to 50,000 b/d of oil equivalent by the time of the company's 50th anniversary in 2021.

DNO's North Sea operations are now expected to contribute 20% of company production, 30% of revenues, and 20% of operating cash flow this year, it said.

It said that in Kurdi it would soon mobilize its fifth drilling rig for the "largest drilling campaign in Kurdistan's history".

The new spending plan, including investment, exploration expenses and lifting costs, is more than double the 2018 level at $680 million and involves increases in both capital and lifting expenditure.
