US total oil, gas rig count falls by 14 on week to 1,076: S&P Global Platts Analytics
The US total oil and natural gas rig count fell by 14 week on week to 1,076, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics, continuing a recent see-saw despite domestic oil prices that persist in the low $60s/b.
The oil rig count fell by 13 to 854. The gas rig count fell by two to 218 while rigs classified as neither oil nor gas rose by one.
Thursday's rig count total is nearly 13% lower than the recent high of 1,233 in mid-November. The last time the rig count was this low was in mid-January 2018.
Despite the rather large rig decrease this week, "the story hasn't changed much," S&P Global Platts Analytics analyst Taylor Cavey said.
