Gabon to Allot New Oil Blocks in June
The government of Gabon will start giving out its new oil blocks in June this year, the Central African nation's Minister of Oil and Hydrocarbons Pascal Houangni Ambouroue said Monday."We will launch the call for bidders which will permit investors to come to Gabon and explore our oil and gas basins," the minister said, adding that the once-big oil producer has seen its oil output plummet in past years.
The minister said last week that 24 bidders had filed for the 35 new oil blocks the government has advertised.
He said 23 of the blocks are in deep offshore waters, while 12 others are in shallow shores.
